Laser hair removal

Your appointment care guide.

Preparation and aftercare can affect comfort and treatment safety. The clinic will confirm the timing that applies to your device, treatment area, skin and health history.

Before

Prepare the treatment area

  • Follow the clinic's shaving instructions; do not wax, tweeze or epilate unless the clinic says otherwise.
  • Avoid tanning and disclose any recent sun exposure, sunburn or self-tanner before treatment.
  • Arrive with clean skin and no makeup, lotion, oil, deodorant or fragrance on the area.
  • Tell your provider about prescriptions, supplements, photosensitizing products, recent peels, injectables, tattoos and a history of cold sores.
  • Do not stop prescribed medication on your own. Ask your prescriber and the clinic for individualized guidance.
After

Keep skin calm and protected

  • Mild temporary warmth, redness or follicle swelling can occur. Use only soothing products recommended by your provider.
  • Protect the area from sun and use broad-spectrum sunscreen as directed.
  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, friction, strenuous exercise, deodorant and strong active skincare for the interval given by the clinic.
  • Do not scratch, pick or pull at treated hairs. Gentle shedding can happen after treatment.
  • Between sessions, use only the hair-removal method approved by the clinic.
Treatment day

Make check-in easy

  • Bring an updated medication and skincare list.
  • Tell the technician about new irritation, infection, open skin, tanning or a recent procedure.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing when treating a body area.
  • Expect a consultation, contraindication screening and, when appropriate, a test patch before a full treatment.
  • Ask when you may safely resume exercise, heat exposure and active skincare.

When to contact the clinic

Contact the clinic promptly for unexpected blistering, worsening or prolonged pain, spreading redness, unusual pigment change, discharge or other signs of infection. For difficulty breathing, vision changes, rapidly increasing swelling or any symptom that feels urgent, seek immediate medical care. Do not rely on a website or social media message for an emergency.
